Brief Position Description:

Responsible for developing, managing, implementing, and executing Argo’s QC/QA programs to ensure Customer Satisfaction through the process of developing concrete mix designs by efficiently using the highest quality of concrete materials, laboratory testing processes and analysis. Maintains comprehensive records on placed concrete to ensure continuous improvement in quality and cost efficiency of concrete mixes to optimize profit contribution, without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.


Specific Duties:

  • Manages the Quality staff, including field technicians/representatives and lab testing personnel anddevelops internal processes and procedures to measure staff performance and to ensure consistencyand continuous improvement in quality and results.
  • Oversees and designs various concrete mixes to ensure proper mix specifications are used on eachorder, with special attention to projects requiring unique or “one-off” specifications;
  • Manages the reviews process for job bids to ensure the selection of the proper mix design at the mostefficient cost by apportioning the optimal material quality/quantity; obtains approval of mix designsform accrediting agencies, project engineers, etc.
  • Maintain a records of material types used in production of concrete, ensures that test procedures formaterials is in accordance with ASTM standards to ensure minimization of product failure.
  • Minimizes risk through the development of trend analysis and product performance records.
  • Evaluates product quality and performance to establish “Benchmarks” for products and raw materials.
  • Maintains communications and good relations with material vendors/suppliers to ensure timelyresolution of material quality-related issues.
  • Ensures that inspections, assessments, and reports on materials, processes, and product capabilitiesare in compliance with established material and product quality and performance standards.
  • Takes appropriate actions to correct material failures and implements processes and procedures toprevent future problems.
  • Ensures that the database maintenance program(s)are maintained to ensure that all project mixperformance results are recorded and archived in accordance with internal and ACI standards.
  • Advises the General Manager in the development and implementation of the training of productionand sales personnel on quality processes and issues to ensure proper mix and delivery of ready mixedconcrete.
  • Monitors the testing of concrete performance during the placement phase to “early-identify” concreteperformance problems at jobsite/ projects.


Physical Demands:

Requires the physical strength to stand, stoop, bend, climb, reach and lift (up to 50 lbs) on an occasional-to-frequent basis


Working Environment:

  • Frequent outdoor work with light exposure to various physical hazards, including heat, cold, dusty,dirty, wet and noise.
  • Moderate to frequent indoor work with exposure to light physical hazards using equipment(hydraulic, electronic, heat sources, etc.) and chemicals used in materials and product samples a labenvironment.




Educational Requirements:

College degree (or equivalent work experience) with 3 - 5 years’ experience in the ready mix concrete industry with 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
NRMCA Level III certification.


Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven problem solving and analytical abilitie
  • Self-motivated, with good time management and interpersonal, and persuasive skills
  • High level of knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite(Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) as well as QA/QC related software applications.
  • Thorough understanding of ASTM and ACI standards.
  • Expert knowledge of ACI-121 standards and principles.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering with NRMCA Certifications in Concrete Technology-Level III Diploma
  • 10+ years of work experience in a QA/QC or other related field.
