General purpose of the job
Manage all aspects of the ready mix plant site including safety, environment, operations, sales, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, plant’s image and community relations. The Plant Manager is an operations professional who understands the value of planning and working effectively with other functions including: Sales, Dispatch, Safety, Environment, Finance, and Human Resources. Additionally, the plant manager is accountable for the efficient use of resources associated with the assigned concrete plant required to produce the quality and quantity of Ready Mix concrete for the market and for the generation of budgeted profits.
Individual accountabilities
Customer relations:
- Encourages a positive working relationship with area personnel to ensure customers' jobs are serviced according to the specifications.
- Responsible for the collection of Cash on Delivery (COD) payments. Proper receipt of the payment, and deposit of the cash.
- Demonstrates high standard of customer service by communicating with customer and/oroperation/ quality / sales personnel to address any problems / issues in a timely fashion
Manages Plant Personnel:
- Manages plant personnel and Concrete Delivery Professionals (Drivers) to ensure efficient operations of the facility and delivers to customers in accordance with company guidelines, procedures, policies and practices.
- Manages phone calls / texts for plant personnel.
- Performs all discipline action meetings with assigned plant personnel.
- Monitors, reviews, edits and approves employee payroll.
- Conducts interviews and hires plant personnel, including CDP’s (drivers).
- Works closely with plant personal to engage them in the goals of the plant and develop their skills. Develop and motivate staff by taking time to recognize and celebrate successes regularly.
- Identify underperformance and establish corrective action plans accordingly.
- Provides plant personnel with feedback regarding their performance; rewards and disciplines employees (progressive discipline)
- Manages the process and in the final decision maker in the decision to terminate an employee's employment.
- Documents and conducts annual performance reviews with his/her direct reports.
- Proactively addresses employee issues / behavior.
- Manages plant workforce by planning, assigning and directing work.
Education
Undergraduate degree or working experience equivalent preferred in construction management, engineering, or business management
Technical knowledge and certifications
- Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word
- Working knowledge of concrete products and production processes
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven problem solving and analytical abilities
- NRMCA Level III certification
- Possess a general knowledge of construction and A&C products and a solid understanding of the market, competition and business opportunities
- Ability to apply knowledge and learning capabilities of mechanical functions of various components and equipment, including electrical, pneumatics, compressed air, mixer trucks and water systems.
- Creative and logical thinker. Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions
- Handle multiple tasks at one time, such as batching, operating materials distribution, reading order tickets and talking on the phone at the same time.
- Works with customers and drivers in a professional manner and in group situations.
- Self-starter with sound judgment, positive attitude, takes initiative, adapts to changing work environment.
- Understand value creation and maximize efficient utilization of assets
- Develop an organization and motivate it to act and achieve goals.
- Understand accounting and financial statements and can develop and implement cost controls.
- Must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
- Possess a commitment to and willingness to devote great effort and time in order to reach goals
Area of experience
3-5 years progressive experience working in the Ready Mix industry

Annual Salary range from $67,299 to $93,472
