Job Description

The Working Foreman position is responsible for the overall plant compliance and environmental safety and serves as a back-up to the Batch Supervisor. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant to ensure environmental compliance and safety
  • Perform water sampling, site, and front-end loader inspections
  • Provide support to Batch Supervisor
  • Monitor batch screens and receives orders from dispatch via computer
  • Perform dry mix process according to customer specifications
  • Schedule drivers based on customer demand
  • Verify batching orders received from dispatch facility
  • Receive supply orders for the plant location
  • Maintain preventative maintenance logs for the plant
  • Monitor chemical inventories to ensure volumes meet customer demand
  • Oversee truck maintenance logs
  • Oversee safety requirements for plant personnel to ensure compliance with company and state regulations
  • Must follow and comply with the safety regulations as outlined by the Texas Department of Transportation, OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required to Perform Work

 

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or at least 5 years experience in concrete industry

 

Language Ability

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

 

Math Ability

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
  • Position requires self-motivation, independent decision-making and strong judgment/reasoning skills
  • Other responsibilities as required

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has supervisory responsibility
