General purpose of the job

Within his/her area of responsibility, position is responsible for all aspects of maintenance and capital improvements to Ready Mix plants / sites and mobile equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Working with mechanics, plant personnel, operations and division managers; the Maintenance manager ensures proper repairs of equipment are performed and is accountable for ensuring maximum efficiency of physical assets / resources associated with the assigned concrete plants which are required to produce the quality and quantity of Ready Mix concrete for the market and for the generation of budgeted profits.

Individual accountabilities

  • Ensure all warrantable repairs are documented as recommended in the data system (TMT) and communicated to the suppliers for recovery.
  • Produce daily “down reports”, weekly cost reports, maintain equipment repair history files, and manage parts inventory.
  • Work with plants, admin, & vendors to manage tire inventory program.
  • Work with Division Manager & Operations Manager to manage mobile equipment & plant maintenance requirements, develop annual budgets and capital requirements.
  • Coordinate purchasing of truck & plant maintenance parts and assure the proper support from national account purchasing is provided.
  • Evaluate equipment condition and make recommendations to Managers and Mechanics prior to repairs.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance program & coordinate service schedule with mechanics or outsource vendors.
  • Ensure best practices are being followed at all plants with regards to daily, weekly, monthly, semi annual, and annual maintenance being performed as per the plant maintenance record.
  • Develop expertise in all plant systems, batch systems, electrical & air systems, and material handling systems.
  • Work with Operations Manager to ensure plants are manufacturing accurately at peek efficiencies: moisture probe operations, batch accuracy & speed, truck loading speed & consistency.
  • Capital Expenditure Requests: Assists in developing long range capital plans. Ensures proper acquisition requests are prepared for equipment within area of responsibility.
  • HR/Coaching & Mentoring: Select, hire, train, and terminate employees as required. Conduct annual and interim interviews with employees and administer the annual performance management system for his/her direct reports. Conduct professional monthly operations meeting with clear agenda and priorities. Develop and motivate staff by taking time to recognize and celebrate successes regularly. Communicate company initiatives and pursues best practices. Identify underperformance and establish corrective action plans accordingly. Ensure all maintenance employees are compliant with all rules and regulations requiring equipment / tool usage and filling out necessary reports.
  • Plant Image: Ensure an operational image guidelines exist and are enforced. Promote a professional image in a standard and consistent manner. This includes
    housekeeping in all areas and the condition (cleanliness and appearance) of vehicles and equipment, appearance of our entrances, overall property, and buildings.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries - report submissions and workmen’s compensation

Education

Bachelor´s Degree

Technical knowledge and certifications

  • Working knowledge of concrete products and production processes
  • Possess a general knowledge of construction and Concrete products and a solid understanding of the market, competition and business opportunities

Area of experience

  • 6-10 years
  • progressive shop/operational management

Languages

English: B2-Intermediate
