General purpose of the job

This position will be responsible for leading the teams responsible for assessing raw materials and finished good inventory are correctly valued for RMX and CMT, ensure production cost is accurate, explain production and inventory variances in addition to support the Cost Accounting and Inventory Manager (CAM). This role will be a key player in the month-end process including assessment cycles for RMX and material ledger for CMT in SAP.  This role requires highly-closed relationship managment with stakeholders (e.g. Plant Managers, among others). This role is essential to be in an agile environment where work is fast-paced and changing, where this leader is highly innovative, self-driving and leads the decision making process for the team to support the Cost Accounting Manager.

Individual accountabilities

  • Responsible for month-end closing for all inventory related activities in SAP
  • Manages costing process for CMT and/or RMX plants
  • Monitor and support physical inventories of materials and fixed assets and communicate any inventory adjustments to CAM
  • Month-end cost accounting journal entries and closing activities for inventory accounts and related cost of goods sold (ex: clearing of purchase price variances)
  • Maintenance of standard cost system, including raw materials, work in process, finished goods and manufacturing overhead
  • Review of manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy
  • Analysis and resolution of discrepancies when they occur
  • Recommend controls to improve related areas
  • Initiate “what if” analysis to determine opportunities for cost savings
  • Support CAM on inventory analysis of net realizable value in order to comply with US GAAP and IFRS requirements
  • Oversee inventory reserve policy compliance for assigned plants and proposes adjustments to reserve (ex: communication of any obsolete inventory, scrap, etc.)
  • Inventory analysis and reconciliation including review of slow moving inventory
  • Review Spare Parts inventory
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Work with the accounting and finance departments to implement and apply cost accounting policies and procedures


  • Assist with fixed assets management and opex vs. capex review
  1. Develop a strategy for the team so that the team members can use to reach its goals
  2. Lead and organize trainings that team members may need
  3. Lead the work flow of the day-to-day operations to ensure that every team member knows what priorities and direction to follow and update Manager accordingly
  4. Help the Manager to review the work of the team and update the Manager on the team’s progress and provide ideas for the resolutions of issues
  5. Communicate openly and clearly within and across other teams
  6. Lead process improvements that can be measurable and valuable for the long-term of the product division
  7. Help the Manager and Controller improve the documentation of processes and procedures


  • Choose Level: Bachelor´s Degree
  • Education Major: Accounting or Finance

Technical knowledge and certifications

  • Excel: Advanced
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • SAP costing experience is required
  • CPA Certification a plus
