General purpose of the job:

 

Possesses strong technical skills and expertise in complex enterprise environments, customer service orientation, sound technical skills and a passion for excellence. The right candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, able to multi-task in a demanding environment, and possesses exceptional communication and organizational skills. This position will report to the Business Applications Manager and the right candidate will have a “do whatever it takes” attitude to support Argos and possess great pride in their work.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Delivers responsive and timely technical level support to users of Argos sales and manufacturing business systems
  • Responsible for day to day Data Base Administration (DBA) support of Oracle and MS SQL databases
  • Provide server and database support, including installation, patching, upgrading and maintenance, backup/disaster recovery, server administration and system monitoring
  • Perform application performance and health monitoring
  • Optimize application performance at the system and database level
  • Develop disaster recovery plans for enterprise systems
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Oracle 11g OCA and OCP, Oracle 12c and MS SQL
  • Support Oracle Database Appliance/Oracle RAC
  • Perform security administration and user account maintenance.
  • Support IT initiatives through SQL analysis, schema revisions, and capacity forecasting.
  • Reporting using BI and other tools
  • Understand and assess new solutions
  • Maintain and troubleshoot third party applications and integrations (SAP, Verifi, Labsys/Verifi Quality,Trimble)
  • Support US infrastructure team with Windows Server Administration, setup, installation and patching
  • Communicate technical trends and the business value of technical solutions.

 

Skills:             

  • Solid experience administering Oracle and MS SQL databases in enterprise environments
  • Experience with Oracle 11g/12c RDBMS, Oracle 11g/12c RAC, OEM 12c, RMAN, Oracle Dataguard (Physical and Active), Advanced Replication
  • Experience with deploying and supporting Windows server and MS SQL  
  • DELL hardware environments.
  • SQL, PL/SQL, Unix, and/or Shell programming experience.
  • Creation and administration of Oracle 11g, 12c and 19c databases on Windows server platform in RAC and Standalone, physical and VM environments, following-up with IT and Apps Support teams on database backups, maintaining database reports catalog, documentation and management of database configuration drifts, continuous review of existing and creation of new database processes and procedures, periodic entitlement reviews.
  • Upgrading and patching Oracle 11g, 12c and 19c databases
  • Implementation, administration and usage of Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control, Oracle Internet Directory.
  • Developing and implementation database automation solutions and performing quality assurance verification of various database project implementations.
  • Proactive database performance tuning, optimization of existing and creation of new database performance monitoring procedures.
  • Willingness to  work outside of regular business hours
  • Some knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS, Azure or GCP an advantage.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish an advantage

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional level systems administration and/or systems experience
